About Me

I am really excited to be part of the Riley Elementary community and equally as excited to be teaching ELD (English Language Development) to our English Learners.  2018-2019 is my nineteenth year of teaching!  I began my career teaching Kindergarten in West Valley City; after which I moved to Boulder, Colorado because I wanted to pursue a Master’s degree in Multicultural Education.  During completion of my Master’s I taught 5th grade in Denver, Colorado.  After completing my Master’s I wanted to immerse myself in teaching students from urban backgrounds, so I moved to Atlanta, Georgia where I taught 4th grade and ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) for 5 years.  It was my love of the mountains and desert that brought me back to Utah, and thus my teaching experience in Salt Lake City Schools. I spent three years teaching 4th grade and ELD at Edison Elementary and I am thrilled to be celebrating my 4th year here at Riley.  I truly love teaching and I love the students with which I spend my days.

When I am not teaching and preparing my lessons you can find me hiking in the Uinta and Wasatch mountains.  Over long weekends I love to go to Southern Utah to spend time hiking and camping in Utah’s glorious desert.  I love being outside, I love adventure, and I love to travel.

Please feel free to come see me any time!  I love visitors and talking about education.  My goal is to provide each of my students with a rigorous and individualized education that meets them where they are and gets them to where they need to be in order to participate fully in their adolescent and adult lives.
