Boundary and School Closure

Dear  families,

Tonight, the Board of Education voted to approve the district’s recommendation on elementary school closures and boundary adjustments. These changes will go into effect for the 2024-25 school year. That recommendation included:

Given the decision to close , resident students have been reassigned to new schools. You can view a PDF map of the new school boundaries by using the link in the list above. You can also view an interactive map HERE, where you can type in your home address to view your student’s new boundary elementary school starting in the 2024-25 school year. Please note: these changes will be implemented for the coming school year, 2024-25, which will begin in August 2024. For the remainder of the current school year (2023-24), your student will still attend .

By the end of this week (Friday, January 12), families will be contacted by the district via email with details about enrollment options for the 2024-25 school year.

Additionally, the district will change the locations of some Magnet Gifted and Talented and some Spanish Dual Language Immersion programs to increase access to district programs for students in every part of our school district. More information about these programs will be shared with all elementary school families in the coming weeks.

We have begun the preliminary work of planning for smooth transitions for students, families, and staff into new school communities starting in the 2024-25 school year. During the next few months, you will receive additional updates regarding transition plans, and you will have opportunities to comment and provide information. Please keep an eye on your inbox for emails from the Salt Lake City School District with important information for your student. We are committed to supporting our students and families throughout this transition and their educational experience.
