Carla Nogales

About Me

This is Mrs. Nogales’ 10th year of teaching.  This year she will be teaching in the Library Learning Center.  She grew up in Sandy, Utah in a family with 6 kids.  She has loved to read ever since she was a young child and frequently visited the Public Library.  Two of her many favorite books are Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan and Wonder by R.J. Palacio.  She has traveled to 11 countries in Europe, as well as Scotland, London, Mexico, New England area, most of the U.S. west coast and the San Juan Islands, Washington.  Two of her favorite places to camp are in Arches National Park, Utah and Gold Bluffs Beach near the Redwood National Park.  

Mrs. Nogales graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education Mild/Moderate.  She taught Resource K-4 in Granite School District, reading interventions in the Park City School District, and Resource K-6 in Salt Lake City School District.  She is certified in teaching Early Steps and Next Steps reading intervention programs.  Mrs. Nogales is experienced in implementing research based direction instruction programs such as SRA Reading Mastery, SRA Early Interventions in Reading, SRA Corrective Reading, and others.  Mrs. Nogales has an English as a Second Language Endorsement.  She is currently working to obtain a Library Media Endorsement and will complete her studies in November 2016.

Mrs. Nogales’ favorite subject to teach is reading.   She loves reading so much that she has collected over 300 children’s and young adult books and can’t bear to give them up.  She loves chillin’ on ocean beaches and searching for sea glass.  She mountain bikes on dirt trails and road bikes as well.  She enjoys making crafts and dancing to 80s alternative music.  She loves the movies Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Little Women, and West Side Story.  Her favorite ice cream is Haagen Daaz chocolate peanut butter and her favorite super hero is Iron Man.

Mrs. Nogales’ favorite thing about being a teacher is building positive relationships with students and getting to know their unique abilities and personalities.

She is super excited to teach in the library and inspire students to enjoy reading and learning from books!!
